Through the SLC Metals division at Ferrous Processing & Trading, the company processes non-ferrous materials with a focus on maintaining high quality control and environmental standards.
Ferrous Processing & Trading (FPT) has been buying, processing, and trading all non-ferrous metals since 1946. Today, SLC Metals is a division of FPT which runs a full-service, non-ferrous metals processing facility in Warren, Michigan. SLC Metals purchases, sorts, processes, and packages aluminum, brass, copper tool steels, stainless steel, and high temperature alloys through the use of state-of-the-art equipment.
SLC Metals is the first non-ferrous scrap metal facility to integrate a high-capacity shredder, an optical sorter and dry system separators with sand flotation. At SLC, scrap metal processing and packaging methods include baling, bulk, boxed, shredding, briquetting, and super-sacks.
Industrial Scrap Metal Removal
The removal of scrap metals from industrial facilities poses many potential environmental risks and liabilities for both the scrap metal producer and processor. All of the facilities, processing techniques and transportation equipment at FPT are designed and operated to minimize or eliminate these risks and liabilities for both Ferrous Processing and scrap metal suppliers.
High Quality Management
The Quality Control Programs at Ferrous Processing & Trading include Statistical Process Control. Through this program, qualified operators maintain industry and customer quality standards. They evaluate metals through sophisticated spectrometers and wet system analysis.
The Quality Department includes professional quality management, quality analysis, laboratory furnace and chemical engineering operations. FPT believes that quality of scrap metal is achieved through the establishment and implementation of continual improvement processes.
Environmental Integrity
In addition to operating high quality control programs for non-ferrous scrap metal processing, SLC Metals maintains strict environmental and quality control standards as well. SLC Metals operates a one-of-a-kind processing plant with a focus on environmental integrity.
The majority of SLC Metals operations occur indoors with all materials handled on paved surfaces or under a roof. Additionally, SLC Metals has a state-of-the-art drainage and collection system, as well as dust collectors and cyclones to remove airborne contaminants.
Our facilities are registered to the ISO 9000 Standard. We have assisted larger industrial plants in their achievement of ISO 14000.
Ferrous Processing & Trading is a world-class supplier of recyclable metals to the steel industry.
